INSURANCE MATTERS GENERAL BROKERS - TERMS OF BUSINESS
STATUSInsurance Matters General Brokers are an Independent Insurance Intermediary and act on your behalf in arranging your insurance. We offer a wide range of insurance products and have access to leading insurers in the marketplace. Unless requested by you, you will not receive advice or a recommendation from us any on any of our products. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed. COMPLETION OF PROPOSAL FORMS & RENEWALIt is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information to insurers not only when you take out your insurance policy, but also throughout the life of the policy and whenever you renew your insurance. Failure to disclose any material information could invalidate your insurance cover. If you are in any doubt whether a fact is material please disclose it. We may keep certain documents or certificates relating to your insurance while we are waiting payment of the amount due, or other documents that you are required to produce. In these circumstances, we will ensure that you receive full details of your insurance cover and any documents, which you are required to have by law. All personal information about you will be treated as private and confidential and will normally only be used or disclosed by us in the normal course of arranging and administrating your insurance. We will not disclose any information to any other parties or take instructions from anyone, other than you, without your written consent. We may use the information we hold about you to provide information to you about other products and services, which we feel may be appropriate to you. Under the date Protection Act 1998 you have the right to see any personal information about you that we hold in our records. FEES & CHARGESIn addition to the premium charged by the insurer, Insurance Matters will impose a charge of £10 to cover the cost of administrative items Þ Mid Term Adjustments and Cancellations Þ Replacement documents Þ Cover Notes
You will be given advance notice of any administration charges. Any fee charged will be clearly shown on the quotation or renewal letter. Refunds will be calculated as the net amount returned by the Insurer less £10.00. We normally accept payment by Cheque, Cash or Direct Debit. If we offer you a credit facility we may pass information about you to credit reference agencies, we may also pass details of your payment record to them . PREMIUMSWe receive payment of premium and premium refunds as agent of various Insurance Companies. Premiums received by us will be promptly paid into a separately designated bank account. Such monies shall not be applied for any purpose, other than payment to Insurers. Gross premiums may be commingled with other insurer/client monies, but we will not commingle any Gross premium collected from you with operating funds or other funds held by us. CLAIMSWe will assist you in preparing and handling claims of a straightforward nature without charge, however we recommend that you obtain the services of a professional claims adviser/assessor for more complex incidents. Most of our insurance companies have their own direct claims service, this information will be in the policy document. WHO REGULATES USInsurance Matters General Brokers is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Our FSA register number is 304359. Our permitted business is arranging general Insurance contracts. Your can check this on the FSA’s Register by visiting the FSA’s website at www.fsa.gov.uk/register or by contacting the FSA on 0845 606 1234. COMPLAINTS PROCEDUREIf you have any reason to complain about our services, we have a formal complaints procedure. In the first instance you should contact us in writing, by phone, by fax or e-mail. If you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. FINANCIAL SERVICES COMPENSATION SCHEME (FSCS)We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstance of the claim. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit. |
